I don't know the answer but sometimes it is just that way. We almost always fish with a minnow on top and jig on the bottom so they have a choice. Sometimes they will only bite one for a couple of hours then you start catching most of them on the other bait. We also tip our jigs with a minnow when spider rigging. Let us know if anything changes, I may need to adjust my fishing if it does.:fish
Be careful of what you've got on your hands. I'm convinced that sometimes we get stuff on the jigs, scent wise, and they will not produce as a result of that.
Maybe so I'm spider rigging also I've went the past 4 weekends caught close to 150 fish and not one has been on a jig I do troll a little slower than the other guys maybe that it's I just figured I'd at least snag one on a jig lol I'll keep the sent in mind I spray reels with reel magic before most trips that may be my problem makes sense
We always wash our hands with an unscented soap before we start fishing and also apply a fish attractant scent to our hands so everything we touch while fishing will not pick up any bad scents.
What's a good sent to use never used any
When I started trolling faster, .8 to 1.1 mph according to gps, Pushing or pulling I made the change to jigs only. I believe that many of the fish i catch are from a reaction strike as apposed to feeding. Just a theory but I like not having to worry about minnows. If I was fishing tops I would prefer minnows but that's not how I roll these days

Yea I was thinking more along the lines of my speed I'm at .5 mostly trolling so probably no action at all on the jigs guess I need to leave the minnows one trip and speed up
It took me a while to build enough confidence to make the break from minnows completely but I think I'm catching more fish now and don't give minnows a second thought. Jigs are much more convenient although I'm sure that there are times when minnows may out catch jigs.but that's part of the challenge. It's also good to start with various colors to find out what they like that day
