So my old Minkota with built in tranducer that never worked just started going chirp chirp chirp, does this mean it is now trying to send a signal?
Yes, if you have a unit hooked to it and turned on.
I could never get it to work, I have a regular transducer hooked up to the locator.
The built in one should not be doing a tuning without a unit hooked to it. The unit itself sends a signal to the transducer and trans ducker sends out a signal into the water. If your hearing a clicking kind of noise it has to be coming from the transducer you installed. Are you by chance running the motor when you hear this sound??
Yes, even if the motor is not running. If I hit the power button it starts clicking.
Put your finger on the face of the built in transducer, turn power on, if you hear that sound you should be able to feel it through your finger tip. If you do something is powering up ducer. I suspect though something else in the motor is making that sound. Don't know what but something trying to turn on. Is it Terrova, pdV2 or foot control?
Well after more searching it turns out the noise is coming from the add on co pilot. Ever hear of this?
The copilot has a setting that will make it click like that. You can turn the clicking off by pressing both speed buttons at the same time for a second or two until it starts beeping. There are 3 sound modes and it sounds like your in mode 3.
Again nothing but great help from our members, many thanks.
