Fish must not be biting

It's awfully hot.
I had to be with my wife in Louisville at the KY State Fair since Wednesday. Did get to go to Cabela's, Bass Pro, and Dick's Sporting Goods. Try killing several hours looking at crankbaits and crappie jigs. I did get a bunch of ideas on colors and patterns to send to Mitch.
Getting the boat ready for a party Sunday morning from Seattle, WA then the rest of the day Sunday and all day Monday on an eclipse package deal I sold. We will fish for a little while Monday morning.
What he said. I've looked ahead at next week and plan on pulling crank baits Thursday. Until then, I'll spend my mornings hunting chicken of the trees.

Russ, I used to lay awake at night as a kid because I was so excited that tree rat season was coming in a couple of days. Instead of counting sheep to go to sleep, I counted .22 rounds and shotgun shells. Of course we had next to zero deer and zero turkeys then so hunting squirrels was how we learned woodsmanship. Kids ,and most young adults today, wouldn't be able to sneak thru the woods if their cell phones depended on it.
Was on some huge blacks for a few days but lost them.
Will go on the hut again sunday or monday
The Green River Lake Slabanator gang "was" pulling up some good numbers of Crappie by pushing cranks, but I haven't heard much from them in the last week or so.
CJpar3 and I went night Bass fishing last Sat night at Herrington, and I caught a couple of "just keepers" ... even though we fished right in the middle of a bunch of tourney anglers. Fish were at the 20ft depth and hammering a 7" plastic worm, but not holding on ... but, they did hold onto the 4" plastic craw I used (later in the night). Didn't report it because I didn't think there'd be much interest. Planned on going Crappie fishing this past Tue, but we were both still recuperating from the night fishing trip ... plus the temp was supposed to be 87deg with a humidity level of 77% and I didn't think I could handle it, so I cancelled out.
Might get a chance to get after'em a time or two over the next two weeks ... then it's time to sit under a shade tree, all camo'd up, and blast some rocket birds out of the sky on opening day.
As some of you know we had a major storm roll thru our part of the county several weeks ago with over 7 inches of rain overnight here in the Maysville area. And I hadn't been able to get my boat our since then due to a crossing being washed out here on the farm. Well as of last night I'm back in business. A co-workers brother finally was able to get his track hoe down here and in a matter of hours everything is even better than before. Really looking forward to Fall fishing this year. I had some boat motor trouble in the spring and as soon as I got that figured out the flashflood came. Them fish better lookout this Fall & Winter.

The bite's been solid but I'm staying off the water this weekend until all these eclipse yah-hoos leave town. KY Lake ramps are frustrating enough with the usual crowds but I'm expecting it to be on another level through Monday.
