Weekend visiting the homeland

Although born and raised in houma , my roots and true homeland are in the central to northern part of the state . Since losing my dad three years ago I try to make at least one trip to the big city of Kisatchie where he was born and raised to wonder the creek that runs through our family property that's such a big part of my childhood as well as adult life . Lane those pictures make me want to kick my shoes off and join in the fun. You are lucky to have been brought up in such a beautiful place. I can only imagine how much fun it must have been to have your own creek to play in. I was raised on a city drainage ditch bank where we had turtles, snakes, eels and crawfish to amuse us, a nice clean creek seems like so much better a setting. Enjoy your trip and all the memories that it will bring to mind.

I grew up in houma. Can't complain arguably as great a fishing place as you will find in the world with what we have within an hours reach. My dad grew up there but I spent countless summer days as well as hunting season days there my whole childhood and later also. Between there and where my mom is from in the middle of the woods outside of glenmora most of my best childhood memories are from the most rural of locations you can imagine. Places that as some of you are familiar with and have similar stories are as rural and untouched today as they were 50 years ago

Thanks for the pics. The arrow head is cool. I grew up in Morgan City myself. Played on the river front and the train tracks for entertainment. Bank fished all over.

Oh wow. We love going up to the bayou campground and swimming and fishing for them Kentucky bass. So beautiful up there.
