The tournament use to be who could grow the biggest watermelon. Talked to a few farmers the last few years to hear the same story. To wet in spring to plant. After planting to late in the year to get a good size melon for the carnival.

The tournament was never about big watermelons, there were 2, one crappie fishing and the other golf, think they still do the golf tourney. They do have a contest for biggest watermelon.
