Boat Trailer Tires
I was looking at my boat trailer tires last night. I noticed that they are going bald. some in worse locations that other's.
The search was on for tires, I had IM'd rich on his opinion, and thought, I would post what I found here for every one else.
in the Michigan-sportsman.com forums there is a section and the consensus there was for Goodyear Marathon tires.
Quick search online, and there seemed to be no one manufacturer who didn't have a complaint one way o another on and specific manufacture tire..... They were all JUNK depending on the poster and his/her experience with the tire.
So I did some research, and one of my pet peeve's was the 60 MPH speed limit on the tires. and made in China was another.
My internet research led me to Goodyear, and their new "Endurance" model of tire. Was released to market Jan 30th 2017, and speed rated for 87Mph & USA made.
Here are two links for the full info. Speed rating, and tire wieght will be different per tires size i think. It was good info, so passing it along for anyone in the market or need for new tires.
I know mine were not going to make it until September for sure.....

Hey there Oneida,
I have a 900 lb bass boat style tin Skeeter with a single axle belly style framed trailer.....Have had tire issues since buying it in 06'.....I am restricted in tire size for clearance in the fender wells.....What I wanted to buy in a tire was the highest load rating in the tire size I use......Shopped around and eventually found what I am happy with from a online company by the name of E-trailer....You might try checking them out....just a suggestion.....

I've been eyeing those Endurance from GY. Thinking of those for my fifth wheel before heading south this fall.

That is what started my tire search.
I did check E-Tire but none of them were speed rated any higher then 60mph that I saw.
Not that 10mph makes allot of difference, but when driving to the DR from my place 2.5 hours.
Well that distance it makes a difference. Puddle jumping around the local lakes not so much, even to Muskegon or Ludington, it helps a small bit.

Hey looks like an alignment and tire balance might be in order. I had my alignment done over on Chicago dr at grapewood frame and axle. For me this was extra insurance and a piece of mind, because of all the trailer issues I've had, lol

Just replaced my boat trailer tires. The one was wearing on the inside. After checking several forums, I found that it's a common problem. I replaced them and the guy even balanced them for me. I'll have to look at the brand name, I forgot it. So far they are wearing good.

Like I said in the other forum, most of the OEM tires that come with trailers are the lowest quality. They have a history of being under rated. Especially when the boat bounces going down the road. The biggest issue that I found out is that these tires are notorious for "Cording". Once a cord or two breaks, they become a soft tire. When you get a soft tire they wear exactly like your picture.
Kevin has a great point though. Besides getting the tires balanced, it is also a good idea to take your trailer to a quality place and have them check the trailer for "caster" and "camber". Similar to an alignment on a car.

The wear is also the same pattern as an under inflated tire which is entirely possible as well.
The opposite tire is not AS bad, but shows similar.
When I checked the tire in the picture was 7lbs less the the other tire.
I still like the ideas and will look into them, I also really like the idea of traveling @ the posted speed limit.

I blew a hub up last weekend. Should have taken pictures of it. Amazed the trailer made it to the launch. When I came back from fishing I noticed the passenger side tire was at about a 30 degree angle. The pin that held the castle nut in was all worn away and the castle nut backed out a bit. Thankfully replacing the hub in the parking lot wasn't that difficult.
