I had a few hours this morning so I gave Limestone Creek a try for a few gills for dinner. Fish were scattered with many small gills and small bass but no Crappie. Still a good morning. I've been trying something new using a 1" slider grub fished much like a Texas Rigged worm for bass. It's working well and I'm getting more gills including a few shellcrackers.

Beautiful fish, I see 2 Blue gill , 1 Shell cracker and the rest are some very large long ear sunfish!! All of which fry up nicely !!
Limestone Creek is a special place, most of the water is three feet or less with the occasional deeper hole and a gravel bottom. The very clear water equals fish that are easily spooked, hard to catch, but very colorful. The heaviest line I use is 6 pound test with most baits of an inch or less and 1/32oz, yet I still catch several bass in the two to four pound range while hunting gills. In one of the deeper holes last year I found a Gator Gar in the 60 to 70 pound range, five foot long and about as big around as a fireplug. You don't get to see many of the big boy Gator Gar anymore, seeing them is almost always a good sign you've found an isolated little honey hole.
