Humminbird Helix 5 SI/GPS problem

Has anyone had a problem with the display on a helix 5 while SI mode was being used? Last time on the water, the side image mode would only display the left side of the boat. I had the mode selected to show both the right and left side at the time. After trying various settings, powering on and off a few times and reseating the cables, nothing seemed to work. After about an hour, the right side image just popped up while I was scrolling through the screens. I also notice that the DI view seemed to be washed out too. I contacted humminbir customer service and they want me to send the transducer to them to check it out.

Sounds like a loose connection in the xducer cable pin sockets ...

Try wiggling the cables at the head unit when the issue arises to see if connection can be affected ...

If so, remove the cables and bend the pins in the xducer cable slightly in any direction (and slightly means very slightly because the pins break easy) ...

Thanks for the response. I was thinking it would be in the transducer also, either the cable or the transducer assembly. I've reseated the cable on the back of the unit, but I didn't try moving any of the pins. Even after I reconnected the cable, it was still not showing the right side image. I think i'll take a look at removing the transducer completely and sending it to hummingbird to get it checked out. I think if they find something wrong with it, the customer service rep stated they'd send me a new one (even though it's out of warranty by a few months). My concern now is that I'll have a hard time getting the cable out of the firewall of the 2016 Lowe Stinger 175.

I had the same issue on my 798 and it was the transducer cable pins one had broken. Sad thing is them bad boys and cheap.

No kidding on the price. I was thinking of upgrading to a high definition Side Imaging transducer until I saw they were close to $200. I think I lucked out with this one though. It was a lot easier to get the transducer out than I expected. Humminbird agreed to check it out even though it was past the one year warranty. Once they got it at the factory in Eufala, they found that it was bad and sent me a new one right away. I received it yesterday and will get it installed tomorrow, (fingers crossed).

Humminird gets two BIG thumbs up!!!!!!
