Crappie Minnow Hook Question

What is your favorite minnow hook including size? I have been using a smaller #2 light wire eagle claw and my buddy uses the same hook but a larger 1/0. We both fish Big Sandy area on Ky Lake and catch about the same.

Also, why does Eagle Claw curve the point of the hook inwards? Seems like it would make it harder to set the hook. Just wondering.

I also use a #2 most of the time. If I am catching small crappie that are swallowing the hook I will use a larger size. I also use a larger size when we go to Miss. To fish.

I use 1/0 and 2/0 light wire aberdeen eagle claws. Any 9" to 10" crappie has a mouth big enough for these size hooks and I don't really care to catch the smaller size crappie. When hung up they bend and can be re straightened fairly easy also. I always hook minnows through the bottom lip and out the top just above their nose.

I use a #2 wire worm hook and rarely have a bleeder. I could catch more crappie on a smaller hook but 95% of the fish hook up around the mouth with the #2 worm hook.
