Alternative To Minnows
With the price of minnows now, and fishing spider rig style your gonna spend some money. On the other hand pulling jigs would be much less cost per trip.
Pulling the crank baits is costly to get started for sure. Shoot we may end up digging our own worms for bait....:Rofl

I VOTE FOR JIGS . NO MINNERS HARMED

I started pushing straight jigs not long ago. Man it was tough to leave the ramp without em but the fish didn't seem to mind.

Going to straight jigs this fall. Really nervous about it. Not going to swap back and forth. Come winter I will have made
up my mind about what I'm going to do next spring. I have my doubts that jigs can stay with minnows in cold water even
by down sizing. Live and learn or no fool like an old fool.

Up here in western Kentucky, I have always used jigs, and then started tipping with a chartreuse nibble. Very rare for me to use minners here at home.
In 'Sippi, I always tip our jigs with some minners. But, the color of jig tubes seems to change daily and it could be drastic changes! Never seen anything like it!
Our next plan is to bring the cranks down there and give it a whirl on them slabs!

I vote minnows. Hard to beat the real thing.

Are minners that high now? I haven't bought none since April, think I was paying $2.50 a dozen then, how much is a dozen now?
