Poor man pontoon

I have my eye on a small catamaran ,minus the sail and mast.In my DIY mind,I can picture a platform on the two pontoons that would be ideal for crappie to catfish on the small lakes I fish.:biggrin

and the larger wore down versions make good docks as well .......just saying

We think alike. I have always been one to repurpose things into what I need. Many stories of things like that.

Several docks around here use pontoon tubes for the floating dock. They work, but I don't know if they would pass inspection by TVA and I don't care either way. Others here use pontoons with holes cut out in the deck to put down stake beds. Others use pontoons for duck blinds. Amazing how crafty people can be. Haven't seen a Catamaran recycled yet.

You've got me interested

I'm not sure the owner will part with it,but it's been sitting on blocks for nearly a year.Im going to stop and check it out,perhaps work out something reasonable for the both of us.

Sounds like a good plan to me

as I went thru the process of looking at pontoons and getting a good one last summer thru winter can tell you there are literally scores of them everywhere that are total junk where it literally just a floating platform, with motor shot or gone and they are just trying to rid themselves of them. IF I still had the great fishing lake my ex had would be buying one for dock or simply putting good TM on it and as a fishing platform. Look on craig's list and elsewhere and let the Haggling begin! Waving cash in new crisp bills under your chin while they keep their eyes fixed on it is a great way to getrdone.

One thing to keep in mind is the Title. I don't know how hard it is to get a title for an older boat in WV, but here in KY it is very close to impossible. Many "sail boats" which the cat may be considered, were never titled or registered as most did not have motors. But as Rickie said "Pictures".
