I have a few networking questionsregarding the units I have. I have never networked units before, so bear withme please. First of all, this is my current set-up:
Console – Bird 899CI HD SI Combo. This unit is hooked up tomy Terrova with IPilot Link. Have the Great Lakes Lakemaster chip in one of theSD slots, and a blank SD card in the other for screenshots. Also have aLowrance Elite 5 DI on the console that I assume is not networkable with myBirds, or is it?
Bow – Helix 7 Chirp GPS G2N. This unit is hooked up to theUS2 transducer of my Terrova. I plan to use this unit to use the AutoChart Livefunction to create some maps. I will probably invest in the zero lines card to storemore data after I’ve tried it out on the unit’s memory first, but I do havesome questions/concerns about doing it this way. First, there is only one SDcard slot in this unit, and it currently has a Navionics card in it. Do I takethis out to record to the unit’s memory? Obviously it has to come out to putthe ZL card in, but not sure how to do it without the ZL card. Secondly, since Ican only record with the Terrova deployed, I will have to do this processfairly slowly, no faster than 3 mph while using the main motor with the TMdeployed. Much slower obviously while actually using the TM for propulsion. Anyissues with that? Is it possible thru some kind of networking between theBirds, to use the AutoChart live function from the 899? That would be ideal ifpossible, just don’t know what is needed to do that.
I know I can get the Ethernet switch and some chords to getthe IPilot link to function with both Birds, but what else will that get me?What about just a Nemea 2000 connection between the two? Is that possible withjust a single chord? And what will that get me?
Thanks in advance.
Randy.
