HB 541 Depth Reading Issues

Searched but with no luck, I have a Humminbird 541 on front, mounted to TM. Often, the depth reading goes to 0" or 6" and stays there regardless of how much water I'm in. This often happens after the TM is pulled up to move spots, and then redeployed. The only 'fix' is to turn it off and back on, and even that isn't fool proof. Hoping someone can help me troubleshoot so I can buy the correct replacement parts w/out trial and error. Not ready to buy a new unit altogether just yet, although it's in the plans. Any insight is appreciated.

Pull the head unit from the quick attach bracket and inspect the connectors down inside the base ...

Verify the cable connectors are seated properly up into their respective slots ...

Also you might remove the cables from the quick attach bracket and test plugged directly into the head unit ... This wil allow you to wiggle the connectors to test for loose connections between the pins and the sockets ...
