Not good on two stroke....too much running at idle speed fouls plugs and carbons up motor.

My Merc.. 50 will run 1.7 all day long without any kind of plate
He aint going to fish enough to hurt anything, try it without the plate Curtis and see what it does, bet you will be fine. After pulling cranks and you head in I would blow the soot out of her pretty good, opener her up and let her rip.
I've run my mercury carb 90 for 7yrs with a trolling plate, haven't had any trouble yet.

Just use your drift sock Coach, or a couple 5 gallon buckets.
I pull cranks with my 25 2-stroke at 1.8 mph. Mike Tabor at Southern Marine told me after I finished idle trolling, run the stew out of it to blow out the carbon. Haven't had any problems with it so far, and been doing it for about 2 years now.:prayjmo
My biggest problem fishing is I have never become a teetotaler . I bream fish a few state lakes, crappie fish sardis/tombigbee waterway, catfish sardis and tennessee river and tallahatchie , fly fish several ponds and fish behind the house when time /wind does not look favorable . Thought I would pull a few bandits . doing good if I do any of it more than 5-6 times a year . lol fishing tackle poor .Will give it a try soon . got to buy a few baits .
Done it with my 40hp Yamaha. Works just fine.
