Well I caught a few fish today. First I went to Panther Bay and put my crappie condos in. I fished there til about 11am, caught 7 or 8 small crappie. Then I loaded up the boat and drove around to Blood River. I caught 15 nice crappie and probably that many or more small ones. I fished there from about 12 - 3pm. My battery went dead on my trolling motor so I came back home.

hey crappie snatcher
:D What were you using to fish today? Just like to stay on top of the bite. Minnows, jigs and how deep? Thanks for the report. Hope I can get out there in the next day or so.:D

I was using jigs. yellow and chartreuse. The water had a stained color. I could only see my jig about 1 foot deep. Most of the time my boat was in 9 ft of water and I was casting toward the bank in 3-5 ft. of water using a bobber and fishing 2 1/2 - 3 ft. deep. They wanted it moving real slow. The surface temperature was47 degrees.

Way to go, on the pre-season crappie. I hope to make a trip there.

Thanks for your reply. Keeps us up todate and hungry to get out there.

Sounds like a nice day on the lake........can't wait to get after some myself.

LepomisAngler, What per season Crappie? We fish for these things year round! I for one seem to loose contact with the fish when they go shallow. The rest of the year it's much easier.

What was the water temperature at Blood River?

Hey Jiggy,
Blood is hovering around 47 degrees. With warm weather for the next week plus forecasted it will probably jump up pretty quickly.
