I made a short trip this morning to Limestone Bay catching a couple dozen Crappie spider rigging a mix of White or Chartreuse 1/16oz Marabou jigs. The fish were scattered on submerged stumps in four to five feet of water. The water is clear,visibility of 12 inches and 78 degrees. All fish returned for another day.

I got lucky, dropped my jigs and started catching fish. The Crappie ended up only being in an area of about 100 yards. With my GPS as was able to make pass after pass in the same area. On a normal day you'd look all day for that special area, I ended up paddling right to it by luck.

That's a great day on Limestone, lots of fun to pound those stumps. I've run into the gar in there like that and could not keep them off the hook! Lol Glad to hear the crappie were there and not the gar.
Kind of a strange morning, you could just see the rod tip bending slightly, set the hook and a Crappie on. Once the wind started blowing I couldn't detect the bites any more, though I'm sure the fish were still there. I didn't catch anything but Crappie, no catfish or gar for a change. I'm supporting a big fish fry at work this week so I'll be back to keeping Crappie again after that.

Been rigging out a new kayak so I can spend some time fishing again. I was thinking along about how you habe that shallow water pattern all figured out. Glad to see your still catching them.
