Lowrance Trolling Motor Transducer and Transom Transducer Mounts

I mainly single pole jig year round and have always had my Lowrance HDS 7 Touch transducers mounted on the transom. However, this means when I am actually fishing in my front seat, the images I see on sonar and downscan are 11 ft or so behind me by the time I start seeing them (I have a small 14" jon boat).

I moved my sonar transducer to the trolling motor a few days ago and left my LSS2 transducer mounted to the transom. I went fishing a couple days ago expecting to see one image of what was under me when I was using sonar (2d) and what was behind me when using dowscan.

What I saw was when I had on my split screen with 2d and downscan, I was seeing the same images in both screens (of course, they looked like 2d and downscan images look like on my unit). This really surprised me so I went over several brushpiles and sunken tree trunks that were right under me so I could confirm I was actually seeing what was under me and not behind me.

Does this seem correct? I thought the side scan and the down imaging was received thru the LSSS2 transducer and the 2d was received thru the sonar transducer.

Any help or reasoning would be greatly appreciated.

It is feasible to see the same structure in 2d and DI - even when the 2d is on the front and the DI is on the back ...

The 2d sonar cone extends outward (in all directions) from the Main Axis of the sonar cone ...

Deeper water would be more prevalent because the sonar cone gets wider as depth increases ...

So the images I am seeing when on split screen, the 2d is coming from the ducer on the trolling motor and the DI is coming from the LSSS2 on the transom, even though they are the exact images and start rolling thru the screens at the same time? I assume this is because the deepest water I am ever in is 7-9'?

Also, since my water is so shallow, would it be best to stay on 83 or 200?

Correct 2d will always come from your TM mounted 2d ... and DI (and SI) will always come from your LSS...

2d sonar frequency choices below...:

83kHz will give greater coverage - with less detail ...
200kHz will give greater detail - with less coverage ...

Choose 83kHz when looking for structure (wider coverage makes structure easier to find) ...
Choose 200kHz when you know where the structure is... and want to see better detail of that structure ...

Correct ... The same applies for imaging frequency choices ...

455kHz will have more coverage - with less detail ...
800kHz will have more detail - with less coverage ...

Are you sure the transducers are mounted correctly? The reason I ask is I have a lss1 transducer on my US2 equiped trolling motor and structure, fish or whatever always shows up on the 2d before the down scan.
