So what do you fish catching pros like river scum, cevans and locator think about the crappie spawn at Mississinewa? It's 22 feet above summer pool ,river up and muddy ,cold and more rain coming. How long can they be delayed before decide not to spawn? Calling for another 1.5 inch rain tomorrow.

Sunlite and length of days effects spawn more so than water temp, but you still need to pay attention to temps sometimes. As muddy as every lake is that I fish, waiting out this mess myself. If we have high water and warmer weather, they will spawn in high water and sometimes we loose the spawn when Army Corps pulls the plug and lowers the lake. Doesn't happen often, but it has happened. Glad I have 2 days this week with meetings as stirr crazy right now. Cat is 35' up, Lemmon is pure mud, Monroe is muddy and still rising and Patoka is the muddiest I have ever seen and still rising. If they weren't letting out 2500cfs at Brookville even tho it's a 3.5 hr drive from the house, I been wanting to hit the walleye, but with the pull, it will slow that down to a crawl. Right now, I love fishing high water so will hit the buck rush in a couple of days on Monroe even if it's muddy. I don't see the lakes being drawn down at least this week, due to Wabash, Ohio, and Mississippi being up so high. Fish have to spawn, so it's anybody's guess this year and I think we need alittle warmer weather for the total spawn to kick in as the water temp is now reversed cold instead of warming. Weather man said today, no more frosts or freeze warnings on the schedule.
22 feet is a ton water depending on how fast they pull it. Could be a bad year class, but I guarantee some have already done their thing. Water temps dropped back down into the low 60's now, and I'm catching preggo females I'm 12' of water or deeper.

i havent been crappie fishing since the shrooms came up. the high muddy water and cold keeps slaping us in the face. i dont have a clue what they are doing in my area as far as spawning. cant answer your question on how late they can spawn either. mite be a biologist or something on main board to answer that. i thought the same thing as locator and cevans, about them pulling water at just the wrong time and screwing things up too. if i was to guess its been a hard year for spawning though. you will know if you start catching a bunch of them with eggs that look funny.
