Olathe Lake-RIP

Buddy of mine works for the city said the lake's dam failed safety test. They're going to screw the lake up with all the renovations they're planning anyways, but now they're going to completely drain the lake to fix the dam. Said it could start as early as later this month.

I work for the Parks department the dam at Lake Olathe is not the one in question the dam at Cedar Lake has reached its lifespan and they will be working on that dam in the future. With the new master plan for both lakes over the next 10 years there will be changes at both places for the positive. To my knowledge and I will check further but the neither lake has been planned to drain or even drop levels to accommodate working on either dam. When I find out more details I will post it.

I hope that's the case. I guess he didn't realize that Cedar Lake is also called Old Olathe Lake. I've heard that boats aren't going to be allowed on Cedar anymore once the renovations are done, hopefully that's not true either.
