To the oil and gas workers out there
I will be conducting an IADC well control certification next weekend, May 6 and 7 at the University of Louisiana campus. Saturday 8-5, then Sunday 8-2. I allowed 25 students in (out of more than 100 who wanted in), I reserved two spots for those in need in the industry. As you know, such a certification costs hundreds of dollars elsewhere.
IADC limits the amount of student to instructor ratio, thus the small count. This is level one certification. A laptop is required to attend, USB sticks will be issued for the course. Due to the offshore disaster of the Horizon in the Gulf in 2010, the federal government attempted to step in on well control certifications. The IADC stepped in and said they would self govern. They built a database of 500 questions for the exam, each student will get 50 questions for the exam, different questions for each student. I will utilize the DrillSIM-50 simulators for those that are familiar with such units.
I know some of you folks out there need this and can't afford it. I plan to do this each semester if you miss out. PM me if interested. You would think I would have better things to do on a weekend :)
