wow, what kind of snake is that monster?
That's a beauty Joe! Looks like a Western Diamondback. Put many of those on the grill in my day.
Nice, imagine the size of those steaks!
Used to attend the Sweetwater Rattle Snake roundup every year and ate my fair share. Tasted just like chicken too. Used to tan the skins and sell them to a feller in
Merkel, Texas. The head of the rattler turned upside down with the fangs stuck on the side looks like a cow skull. He sold them in truck stops to tourists in the form of
belt buckles and ear rings. Sold the meat to local establishments. Years ago in another time.
played with a many a crotalus atrox myself back when . sure do have a nasty temper when riled up . some never rattle and some don't quit and some are plain old mean .i remember when our barn cat had one up by the screen door on night and I kept hearing some kind of light clicking noise and I went to investigate it and swung the door open to find one rather large rather perturbed rattler coiled up tight trying to fend off the cat that cornered it there .
We sure do have some huge snakes especially out in the hill country and of course every place else, just seems a lot more out there!
