1st time pulling cranks-lot of fun

Went to Tuckertown with a fellow CDC member Friday to pull crankbaits, which was my first time. 10 minutes into the troll, my Baby Bass crank got a hit but I lost it near the boat when it caught a limb. A few minutes later, my middle rod looked like it was going to break in half before I could get it out of the rod holder. 5 minutes and a lot of drag later, I pulled in this 9.5 lb blue cat. We ended up with 1 BLACK crappie, 1 white perch, 3 nice channel cats, 1 blue, and 1 flathead. All on crankbaits. Action was slow but it was sure fun watching those rods double over when we got bit. This goes to show that when the cats are hungry they will hit anything. Lots of fun to catch but they can create a disaster when you have multiple rigs out.

Be VERY careful, that stuff gets addictive! I fish by trolling so much, I've almost forgotten how to cast. Have fun & good luck!

Glad you was able to pull some cranks it will on get better the hotter it gets.

Enjoyed fishing with you. Wish we had found more crappie, but still had fun with all the cats. Catching that many on crankbaits, we need to go back and try fishing for them cats. Maybe we will catch a few crappie then.

Kitty cats do like pink. Beware , once starting, stopping is impossible.

about 1.5 mph. Using big motor with the trolling plate down.

I never would have thought the best two colors for trolling were black and pink. Never seen a black or pink shad.

This is a little more common than most folks think, Down at Santee, they use crankbaits to target catfish. I have never had any luck with them, but Mac-B over on catfish1 runs devil horses behind a sinker, and catches cats that way.
