Couldn't find any info for using egg yarn on crappie jigs. I didn't have any orange chenille, so I gave the egg a try. I have no idea what happens in the water, but I will give it a try. The jig looks lots better than the photo. I need to learn how to give give hair cuts too.
Fly tyers use all kinds of yarn and think most will work and just becomes a matter of how it holds up and how well the color holds up.

I watched some youtubes on making egg yarn ball flys. Interesting. I tied the body like in the vids, but butchered the haircut part. I tried to cut it to fit the jig body. Probably should have cut the eggs yarn as instructed and settled for a round body. The round bodies look cool. I don't know what I am doing, but I am doing. I will give it another try and go for the round body. The egg yarn came in one of the CARE packages. I will try most anything since I don't know better.
Looks good CP. I'm not concerned myself with how long a jig will last. I usually tie at least 5 duplicates when I'm tying and I almost always lose the jig before I wear one out.
