My dad and I fished Clinton lake this evening. I've never seen the lake so packed. It was unbelievable! Probably 30 boats on the dam, and just about every shoreline had boats. We had to go into town to get bait.
We caught 5 keeper crappie just a tad over or right at 10". Only fished two hours. Talked to some boats and they were reporting about the same numbers as us. They aren't on fire at Clinton but enough biting to make me happy.
It was an unusually calm day on Clinton yesterday, except for an occasional large wake from pleasure boaters. I found large 11-14 inch slab males along the north shore in 1-3 FOW. cleaned 8 at sundown. I sure wish the calm warm days would stay around for more than 1 day before getting a cold front. Kansas weather is crazy.
We were catching them by the dam a few days ago, but had to weed through many, many dinks to get keeper sized ones. Wasted too many minnows, so we went elsewhere.
We were about 50/50 on not keeper to keeper ratio. But actually nothing was below 9".
How many dinks did you catch at the dam?
Saw tons of people there.
We don't keep anything under 10, and we were keeping maybe 1 out of every 5 or so.Quote:
