I am very interested in the Crappie Sliders. I would like some input from any of you all that use them. I am considering getting some of there weedless hooks as well. I have been looking at the 1.5" crappie grub paddle tail. Do you all have any can't live with out colors etc. I would like to here the good and the bad. Thanks in advance.
Dark blue with chartreuse paddle, or black and chartreuse paddle.....and a package of everything else, just in case those colors don't work.
they work well for intended purpose.... weedless.
IMO you will lose a few finicky biters with the weedless rig but getting tight in the cover likely out weighs that one issue
I've had so much luck with the smoke glitter and the watermelon or pumpkin and chartreuse I about stopped there. Have used them weedless with the special heads but you can toss them and retrieve on a 16 oz lead head or roadrunner head and catch em. Need a little movement to make that tail flutter...but they will hit them on the fall. Put a crappie nibble on them and bass,bluegill ,crappie among other stuff will bite them. In green tinted water when the fish fry are about the size of them the smoke glitter tossed into the feeding fish will fool them. Watched my son catch two 15" crappie and two 10" bluegill with the pumpkin/watermelon chartreuse last year...so the big panfish will hit them.
Only time I would feel handicapped with them is if I was fishing vertical with little or no movement
I've fished with Charlie Brewer Sliders the last 4-5 years. Though I often vertical jig, I have more confidence with a 1.5 inch Junebug-Chartreuse Slider on one of their 16 oz. head than any other artificial. With the exception of muddy water, if I don't get a hit on this setup, I move to another spot because they aren't there.
1.5 inch. I usually put a nibble underneath the body and then - almost - fish it weedless but I like the hook sticking out just a bit as I think it will give me a better chance when bite is light. It also leads to more snags but it's worth it.
I have several colors. But I fish with Junebug-Chartreuse 100% of the time these days. Just seems to work when nothing else will. Cast it out, count it down to just below where you think the fish are, or to the bottom, then bring it back *slowly* to get the best action. It's a phenomenal bait IMO. Also - they do sell their weedless heads with double-light hooks on their website. I use them sometimes. They bend really easy and you can pull them out of snags pretty easily.

On black crappie slider heads, 1/16, 1/8 or 3/16.
If they don't bite one of those colors then I ain't catching them. The black heads have gotten hard to come by and the prices on the website are a bit high. I have repainted some heads with jighead paint to black due to it.

my buddy Bymo was at Grizzly jig this morning and based on you guys had him pick up Junebug/char with weedless heads. plus Wally had his signature light pole on sale and he bought me 12 footer.
