Wow! Nice crappie.
Nice catch Mr. Curtis, you are exactly right, most over look these state lakes and it's a shame. Just got to find me an 1/100th oz jig and some 1/1000 minners and I will be all set.. :biggrin
Main problem with State Lakes is keeping them from draining them..They need to repair one then work on another
I was actually cleaning put some backup drives and found a slew of state lake depth maps that the mdwfp has on the website that I'd georeferenced ( turned them into a map with lat/long coordinates) for use on a cell phone and some in at5 format to be put onto lowrance units. When I getta chance I'm gonna load em onto a dropbox folder and post up a link for folks who would like to use em.
I love fishing kemper lake. It's got tons of huge specks in it, and when a white crappie gets on, he's gonna be a biggun. I caught a 3lber outta there a couple summers back spider rigging at night.
They say they're gonna drain choctaw lake in july. That's a shame because the fishing in that little lake can be great, and pulling cranks is productive in it as well.
