Hartwell
Friday 4/21- I started out as I had the weekend before fishing brush piles in 10-12 ft and picked up no crappie so I motored across and fished a bank and caught 2 crappie off a lay down on Jigs. Later on in the day I went and fished one of my most productive brush piles and only managed four.
Saturday 4/22- I was on the water at 3:30 with the mindset of banks and couldn't buy and bite. I fished laydowns and shallow flats. Later on came across a brush pile and pulled 2 off of it and that was all for Saturday
Friday I caught a total of about 8 on Jigs and minnows and Saturday just caught 2 on Jigs. Does anyone know what I'm doing wrong I'm guessing the fish our just scattered but I'm not quite sure. Thanks.

You didn't say where....and I didn't ask since I know hardly anything about Hartwell lake....but if it's possible try getting to some stained water since we've just gotten some pretty good rain amounts. Surely SOMEWHERE Lake Hartwell will get a little muddy.

It has the same clear water that is experienced in parts of russel and lanier.

Hartwell fishes different from any other lake I fish. You think you know a pattern and it will change over night. On other lakes the crappie will be somewhere in a river/creek run but on Hartwell you just don't find them holding in places they should be for the water temp or time of year. Keep searching for them and moving around until you find them on your depth finder and throw everything you have at them. I have found that when the bite is hard on the lake go small and lite and let the jig do the work while falling.
