I'd like to know yalls opinions on jig head colors with different colored jigs.ive been told to try and make them match.then I've been told to make it drastically different.ive tried both.but honestly this year I've had better luck with plain unpainted heads than anything.just want some opinions. Thanks
It's like Fords verses Chevy . I have seen times where I have caught more on painted than un painted . So I keep several colors painted and in box. Blue,chartresue ,pink, red , orange , did I mention pink! Pink pink
I think jig head colors can matter, Like a black head and a chartreuse body. Colors matter much more in dirty or muddy water. Flo-orange is good also.
Really the only time it seem to make a difference for me is under a float and that's not very often. We put way to much into color in my opinion. Now don't get me wrong there are days when you have to have the right color but most day it just whatever color you have on when you found the fish. This is coming from a guy that make almost all of his tackle.

I have heard anecdotal stories and read articles that suggest the importance of head color. I have used a few painted heads over the years. But I have fished in the boat with several people over 30 years and have never been shown that the head color mattered. I used plain heads. My experience says that the body color and type matter. The body type (plastic, hair, etc) is more important followed by color.
On some lakes the BG plastic bait will outperform, while on other lakes the hair or feather style is better. Then specific colors will vary from condition to condition (ie., cloudy, bright, etc.)

I quit using painted heads some time ago. 100% plain lead head is all I use now. I think jig size for the condition, bait/color, and presentation are more important. Just my opinion.

Me either.thats why I'm asking. Lol. These things are a lot harder to catch than the catfish I'm used to. Lol
