I have two outlets and a light switch that are not working in the garage. Also two outlets on the other side of the wall in the living room are not working (same wall). The breakers are not tripped and I replaced all the GFCI outlets..still no power. I also found it funny that all my old GFCI outlets had power to them but would not reset when pushing the button. Any suggestions before I have to call an electrician?
I had a similar deal on my house about 5 years after we moved in (new house), we would lose power and no breakers tripped, I'm pretty good electrical but this made no sense and sometimes power would come back and maybe not. Got to talking to a good electrician and he said is your electrical feed in conduit, well is was going to the ground. The conduit stopped about 2' under ground and unprotected after that (freakin contractor). Guess the rocks under ground will settle and cause problems digging into the cables protective coating. Replaced line into house and have no problems since. Hope this helps
Could be a bad receptacle. First one in line and all the rest have no power?
So if one of the receptacles goes bad in that run then it will cut power to the others correct?
Yes, check each receptical starting with first one in run. Also if by chance you have aluminum wire they will loosen over time. They make a special adapter to install on receptical and then wire to it so you can get it good and tight.Quote:

Open neutral wire? Had pretty much what you describe happen after an electrical storm, lightening damage. Electrician had it fixed quick. I'd be talking to one.
Yes yes yes free advice from CDC keeps saving me money. I had an open neutral wire that worked loose from the receptacle problem solved. Thanks for the help! And I was told that just because the old GFCI outlets wouldn't reset does not mean power won't go to them, it just means they won't trip on a power surge so replacing them was a good idea anyway.
If your not good with electric call in an Electric Pro. I am so so with electric and if replacing the first receptacle did not fix the problem I would calling the pro.[SIZE=5][/SIZE]
