Caught 20 keeps. Literally tossed back another 50 to 60. Fun day regardless and wife wasn't angry waking up at 5:00. Long line trolling with Jiffy Jigs. Water 68. Not as many idiots on the water today but really can't figure why people just ride around and then complain fish aren't biting.

We talked to several boats & explained how we were catching our fish, and even showed them fish we caught running down the same bank they'd just finished casting to, yet they went right on fishing the same way they had been. :Doh:
Most were way off the bank, casting straight at the bank. They were catching fish, but said most were too small. We were right up close to the bank & casting down the bank (basically almost parallel to it) and catching 4:1 keepers to dinks (minimum).
Yes.... but I gave 4 main spots I hit. Places you probably put me on. I troll probably a 1/4 mile stretch of bank, then turn and go the other way. Sometimes I will find a pattern where they like them coming in one direction more then the other so I will just motor back to the beginning and restart the troll. When it slows up,and it always does, I move to next spot.
Lots of people just casting up bombers to the bank and sitting there. They are really missing out. I like your way and at times will hug the bank and cast parallel with it. I call it corking but what I do is put a small bobber on with a curly tail a foot or 2 below. I cast it and pop the bobber back as if it where a popper. Absolutely catch a lot of fish. Some would thing the bobber splashing would scare the crappie but I believe the see, hear, or since the flash and react by attacking the jig. Learned it from Jason Tucker and Mark Collins down at JR'S Marina at Lake Weiss.

I have used the weighted cork and small Keystone Minnow bait to fish for brim. Casting out over beds and working it as you say. They usually will smack it on the drop.
Have never tried this method for crappie but intend to next time I get to go. Had originally thought I would go today, but the yard needed to be mowed, garden worked and put a new seat on the tractor. I think it is better to fish during the week if you can.
