HELP, Fishing Wright Patman...NEWBE here!!!!

Okay, i am getting back into crappy fishing, its been years. My grandfather taught and took me often. I haven't been fishing since his passing years ago.

WELL, i bought a boat and a crap-ton of stuff, most of which i prolly dont need!

Lake I will be fishing is Wight Patman, in extreme NE Texas...right now depth is 14-20ft, surface water temp 70(am) to 75ish(pm) I have fished 4 times in the past week and a half with NO luck (catfish only) i am using a spinner reel, 6.6ft medium weight pole, 4lb Trilene xl, clear. I am fishing different brands and colors of jigs, single only. Haven't tried double jig set up. I have fished anywhere from 2ft to 10ft of water...lake is moderate on the clarity scale.

I am sure you will need more info to help me fine tune many of the things i am doing wrong, just ask and i will provide all the info you need!

So please treat me like i have never been fishing a day in my life and flood me with ideas and advice. I plan on fishing ALL WEEKEND!!! I am very much looking forward to all of yall advice!!

Do havea cheap sonar, Lowrance Hook4, i would also love any advice on what to look for...structure vs. cover....ect...i dont really know what either one looks like.

look for other crappie fisherman would be a start ....ask a few locals some questions ...I know that lake is flat full of them for sure ....they maybe up some arm of it shallow ? don't know that lake but heard its a great spot for crappie ....you might even resort to minnow dunking under a float

run that graph on 2 d and let it show you more definitely what is what rather than the down imaging .....would be another suggestion on the electronics part ....also make sure if you find concentrations of fish on cover you hold the bait right above them to start out .....about a foot if possible and sometimes it can be critical to have the depth rather exact to present the bait .....

I use yellow 4lb line bc alot of times when dropping your bait a crappie will hit it from below and you wont feel the bite. Just the line goes slack and if its not a minnow they will spit it back put pretty quick. I also drop my bait to the bottom and then slowly reel back up counting the revolutions. If you get a hit stick with that depth for a bit.

On your Hook4 look for a purplish haze in the water column. That will be the bait fish. Where they are crappie will be. Usually a single revolution of a small spinning reel is roughly 2ft of line. If bait fish are holding at 10ft and you have a total depth pf 15ft, drop the bait to the bottom and reel in 2-3 revolutions. That puts you close to where the crappie will see the bait easier. If no hits come you may switch colors.

I crappie fished all weekend in south texas. Only thing i could get them to hit on is a blue/chartuse mister twister trulive grub on a 1/16oz unpainted head. Everything I caught was on the very bottom. But I am also a beginner at this so I was prolly doing something wrong.

I fish Lake O Pines and I use a bobber with jigs. The upper is a chartreuse and black tube and the bottom is a chartreuse and white swimming minnow. Yesterday I fished the north end in about 20 feet of water at 10 feet deep around bridge pilings and around channel marker poles. I had blessed day and brought hoe 22.
