Just mounted my seat post up front and by just looking at it im wondering if my deck is too short. The upper part is for my trolling motor. If you are planning on a foot controlled trolling motor then I think it is too short the foot control would be underneath your seat, but if it is hand controlled you should be good. My opinion, now I am a tall guy and I have the same problem on my 16x48 Lowe and I am trying to figure out how to fix it where I will still be happy. This is a 77 model boat and still pretty much like it came from the factory. So I hate to start cutting and reworking.
What kind of boat it looks a lot like the old Montgomery Wards my boys are working on right now.
Doesn't look like you're gonna have much leg room at all. Also, the higher you sit in a vee bottom, the more tippy you'll be. Don't ask how I know this.
Its an old starcraft dont know the year. Its a 14ft. The deck lays on top of the post where the bench would sit. I have a hand control trolling motor but eventually get a foot control. I guess the best thing to do would be to go ahead and extend it. Ive never had it on the water so i dont know it sits. Maybe ill get the flooring and wiring finished then take it out. That deck is removable its nots bolted down. Any comments are welcome.

I have an old 14' Crestline set up very similar with a tiller handle trolling motor and it works great. You'll get used to it and probably be just fine. The added benefit that I got from adding decks was extra weight that helped on windy days. That little boat hasn't been in the water in 6 or 7 years since I bought a glass boat that's more stable and 4 feet longer.
