Fishing guide help!
So I'm starting a new venture in life and going to start a guide business in the next year or so... My ? Is do I need to have my captains license... I know you can buy the $25 guide license but iv read u need your captains license if you are on federal water... I also hear it's quite the hassle to get your captains license and there seems to be hundreds of small guide outfits on federal waters and I'm sure most of them don't have their capt. lic. ... I called agfc and couldnt really get a straight answer so i figured you guys would be of more help lol...Thanks for the help!!

You may contact the corps of engineers if you plan on guiding on corps lakes.

The only guides I know who are "captains" are saltwater guides.

Resident fishing guide license will need to be purchased along with your normal fishing license to allow you to fish with clients. That should cover all state waterbodies including federal.
