I would recommend going to the pensacola fishing forum and looking at the beach and surf section. Pompano are hot for the next month and pretty easy to catch. Read some of the reports and if you want sign up and ask advice. Some pretty nice fellows over there. There is also a bridge and pier section that you might wanna look at
Actually I thought you said Gulf Shores. Gulf Port may be a whole different ballgame
Recommend you post this on the Mississippi page. I am certain you will get some good information about Gulfport/Biloxi.
The Choctawhatchee river dumps in the Pensacola bay and has decent crappie fishing.
Speckled trout bite will be on. I can't wake for school to get out so I can head to Cocodrie for a week or so
I wish! Choctawhatchee doesn't but Escambia river does. Blackwater, perdido, and yellow rivers also end up in Pensacola/Escambia bay.
If your coming to gulf shores and wanna crappie fish, stay away from NWFL. you need to be in or above the mobile delta. Look at Dixie landing or Hubbards. I figured you wanted to stay close to the beach and still recommend the PFF for info
Cliffs landing or Live Oak Landing on the east side of the delta would be about an hour drive for you if the traffics not too bad. The perch/crappie have been on fire around there this spring depending on the amount of rise on the river when your down. I think I would consider some salt water fishing while your here, either off the beach or gulf shores pier.
