Not sure I understand your question or concern? Are you wanting another trolling motor that doesn't cost much? If so, what are your requirements other than cost? Thrust, voltage, shaft length, etc.
Minnkota has an app on their webpage to help you select a trolling motor based on your needs. Click on the tab on the right side of the page. "What trolling motor do I need?"

Honestly, the Edge trolling motor is a good unit, strong and durable. The cable can be tight and a pain in the butt when the motor is stowed. Those problems go away when you deploy the motor. Lots of fisherman prefer cable driven motors, so you shouldn't have too much trouble selling it.
Why not get some multi stranded 4ga wire and extended it ,so there's no strain on the short cable coming loose from the battery or move battery a little closer.
The cable to the foot control is too short and stiff when I take my foot off it will move away from where I had it that is the problem
Ah ha, contact the manufacturer and get a replacement cable. I would keep a close watch on the classifieds or put a "Want to Buy" for your particular item.
I screw my foot control to the floor so it stays in one place that way I always know where it is without looking. May work for you.

Not a perfect solution but put one on an old motor guide I had and it did help your particular situation. That's not just a stiff cable issue. It's just an inherent problem with foot control motors.
There is a tension adjustment screw on the back side of the foot control. This adjusts the tension on the cable. Try loosing it up some and see if that helps. My Edge never self adjusted when I took my foot off the peddle. It always held position.

Find the section on adjusting the Steering Cable. On the first manual it is on page 12.
