Caught 25 all this size but left my fish basket in the truck. Water was 67-68F in 2-6ft of water. Majority of the fish were males positioning themselves to be first to the shallows, females were caught in the deeper water. All were caught on a 1/64oz jig, had several hit the float so small popping fly would've had success. This is a small black water river, so lots of blow downs, cypress, submerged timber to generate current breaks &a slack water.

Dern good post. This is my kind of fishing and Fav fish to eat. I really hate that the Rivers are so low this time of year.

Well I have a 12ft jon boat with a 6.5hp mud motor so I can make it through the rough parts for about another 1 or 2ft. Regular outboards can't make a go at current water levels.

i haven`t saw it but a friend of mine in Douglas Ga put a ski do motor in the back of a small fiberglass boat and he can go most anywhere .

Looks like the Satilla and if it is I am glad to see the RB.

Upper Suwannee tributaries/basin in South Georgia. I heard the Satilla is the crown jewel of Georgia for redbreast, will have to plan a trip someday. From all the photos I've seen they appear darker than what I catch in Valdosta

Not a scientist but quite certain it's a separate species. Cuz you don't find them usually in still bodies of water like ponds/lakes. Which bluegill and shell cracker can be found and stocked. Never heard of stocking service for redbreast. They live in separate habitat mainly rivers & for my area like current breaks & eddies.
