Help on Wateree
Hello My South Carolina fiends. Be coming to Wateree Monday 27th and be down there the week. My first time on Wateree, will be crappie fishing Long lining. Can any one give some reports on what the crappie are doing and what depth been the most catching. Any help will be most appreciated. I will be in a red Ranger staying on Beaver Creek. If you see me stop by and say hello. I will have two of my friends with me and they will be fishing off the back. We are just 3 old fellows from KY that loves to crappie fish. Thanks and everyone have a great day.

I hope someone who fishes down there will chime in and help you out. I would say crappie should be close to the shallows now with the temps starting to rise. Breaver Creek is a good spot to long line in. Just about any of the creeks will be good. I sure hope you get into them while your here on your stay.:fish:highfive

The Raccoon and I went to Wateree yesterday. I bank fished cause he was late getting there but I did catch a big shellcracker on a Larry jig. Snooze he lose. On the crappie front over hearing the chatter from the state park campers is some crappie are still deep and some are on the banks. Me and Raccoon got skunked on the crappie front but did get the usual slimers and some good sized white perch on the northern end of the lake.

Tightlined yesterday for 5 hours. It was tough, only catching one crappie at each place I fished. I fished deeper in 16-25 fow in coves and on points. I was not seeing the marks on the depth finder I was seeing 3 weeks ago. We did lose a biggun right next to the boat that was approx. 16" caught tightlining right next to a dock on a steep drop off to 22 fow. I think with all the warm weather they are in the back of coves or under the docks, but that is just speculation. Next weekend I may try clarks hill, but if I don't I will be longlining 1/16 road runners in 10-20 fow in back of coves and flats from beaver creek past wateree creek. I imagine the back of dutchman crerek should start getting good also. Water temp was 60 yesterday at 11am

Of the few we caught, our largest was Just under two pounds, the one we lost was noticeably larger than that.
