Dropped my first condo last night
Well I went and dropped my first crappie condo last night. I should have taken pics but the truth of it is I had so much stuff in my boat I was afraid to take the camera with me.
As it turns out it looked pretty much just like the pics in the tutorial link.
I put it in Lake Charles and the deepest part of the lake I have found is 20 foot so I used the concrete block method. Bought the Heavyweight blocks and used 25 pieces of bamboo just like Jerry and his crew said to do and it sank like the titanic.
It was really easy to do. We assembled it with the boat pulled up to the bank. One guy on the bank and me in the boat. That seemed to work well as it was really windy and we would have been blown around if we tried to do it while on the water.
I have to say I had quite a sense of pride and accomplishment as I watched my condo slowly sinking to the bottom. But the best moment was when I used my GPS and found the condo on my $12 portable depth finder that runs on 8 D batteries that my buddy bought for me at an auction. That was pretty neat.
My neighbor grows bamboo and makes stuff out of it. He culls out the pieces he doesn't want. I told him this morning what I had done and he got a good chuckle out of it. He was pleased that it was being used and said he had some more for me.
