New to the area

Hi,
New to the forum but I see there’s tons of good info here. We recently bought a camper that’s setup next Larto Landing. Made a couple hunts out there but haven’t done any fishing yet can’t wait to get a line in the water. I have to admit it seems like a totally different game at Larto than I’m used to. I grew up perching jerking the grass beds and fishing the cypress knees for sac-a-lait under a cork, so I have plenty to learn.

Plenty of grass beds and cypress if that's what your comfortable with. Just have to motor to the island or any cut or bayou towards saline. I'm not a spider rigger myself. I like vertical jigging without a cork. Catch plenty out there this way. Good Luck and welcome.

are you talking about the island in the lake towards one end? If so our camp is right there. Vertical jigging is what I want to learn, need to get some electronics for the boat and a jigging pole. Do you prefer shiners or jigs?

One good place to tightline on Larto is between Larto Landing and the main lake. Find the deepest water, which tends to be a little closer to the island than the highway. Easiest way to find the best places to tightline is just look for other boats that are doing the same. Larto is plenty big enough not to crowd anyone.
