Hi all, I'm planning a trip to city park this Friday with my girlfriend(who loves to fish). Any tips for fishing in that area? Best bait to use? Anything would help, this is our first time going there, thanks.

I went out last Friday afternoon just to check the water and see what was going on. I was throwing a 1/32 beetle spin and picked up two small bass about 1/2 pound each. If you're talking about live bait you should do well with cold worms (night crawlers). I saw a large number of bluegill (perch) swimming around.
Thanks, I'm planning on using live(shiners, worms) and artificial bait.
Never fished there....but, welcome to the forum....
I fished there plenty when I lived in NO.. won big bass rodeo.. twice.... but got beaten both times by people that cheated and later admitted it.
great place to fish but I think it is closed right now prior to the rodeo.. check the city park website....
It's still open, the rodeo isn't until the 25th. Hopefully I'll be able to catch a few keepers
fish any drains or culverts near diagonal drive and off the old wisner golf course.. thank me later
Went to city park yesterday 3/10, and didn't catch a thing. The conditions were perfect for fishing. Used live and artificial bait and i fished covered areas, drains, and under the bridges with no success. I guess it was just one of those days haha. But we did manage to see a giant raccoon, wild rabbits, and a nice size gator. It's a great park, hopefully we'll have better results next time.
