Lake washington

Some call it the cycle. I call it fishing pressure. Go fill your sack ladies and gentlemen. It's been on fire since October. Heck I've never been when at any time a yr u can't fill a bushel sack up with crappie. But one things for certain and that's the size is starting to decrease every yr. As far as top lakes in the country I wouldn't put it in the top 10. I heard(I'm sure I'm wrong so don't bash me too bad) that there were around 60 boats fishing for a big mama fish(no pole limits, no hook limits) and 2.4 something won and only a handful of fish weighed over 2. That's pretty discouraging considering the weights I used to see posted.

You are correct. 2.49 won Big Mamma. I'm not sure how many boats fished it but very few 2 pounders were weighed in. I have a place on the lake and counted 54 boats from my dock one morning not long ago. The pressure is unreal.

Think your last sentence sums up the root of the problem bird. Tournament guys flock to these lakes, have these big mama's and then post the results for the world to see. Not saying it's the fault of tournament fishermen or the individual, but once the word is out about a lake, everyone sets out to clean it out in short order. Take grenada for instance, "home of the 3lb crappie", with that kind of reputation boasted folks will make sure in time that it's the former home of the 3lb crappie..

Its sad that people are so short sighted and wasteful. The same is true on Weiss, people come and stay for a week and keep all they catch. How many are enough. There is no way some of these people eat all the fish they catch but the keep them any way, I guess to brag. God Blessed us with this resource to use but we should be good stewards of the environment. I am all for lower limits and boat limits. Just curious, does Washington have the same length and limits as the big 4?

Aren't any more good fish in Washington and never will be. Book your spring trip elsewhere.... I haven't seen but a handful of 3# crappie this year so it's a pitiful fishery....

Limit is 30, fish have to be over 11" except for 5 that can be under. I would like to see it go down to 20 or 15 fish per person

Sad but true, the pressure is unreal, especially when you consider yo yos hanging from every limb.

It's the same way with the lakes that I fish in GA. The sport has gotten more popular and it seems like everybody that has a boat is starting to crappie fish. With a 30 limit creel and no size limit it is killing our lakes. I see people catch and keep fish so small that I don't even see how they clean them.

Before you bash me let me say that I do troll from time to time with that being said. Lets be honest trolling is whats hurting that lake and its just not that lake it has the potential to hurt every lake 90% of the fish that come out of Washington or the big 4 are from trolling like it or not. And most trollers couldn't catch a fish unless someone told them where to go now don't get me wrong some are as good as they come. But when folks ask where to go on a lake the answer is find the boats and thats what he does he has know clue as to why the fish are even in that area. Now I dont have a problem with people catching fish trolling if its legal do it and enjoy.
