Hartwell-Martins Creek
Probably going down this Sunday to Hartwell. Anyone fished Martins Creek lately? I know the temp must be all over 60 in that area. Many shallow fish? The urge to bass fish is creeping on fast, need to catch a few more crappie before it takes over. :biggrin

Be ready for low water and you may want to check and see if the ramp you plan to use is still useable. Hope you have a good trip there, havn't seen much on Hartwell lately so maybe that's good news :)

Well I know the SC Crappie group on FB has been posting several successful trips recently. Not sure what part of the lake tho. I guess I would consider hartwell my home lake as I have fished it since I was about 10. Haven`t done any crappie fishing there in years tho. It is a shame that lake stays low so much of the time. Usually MC ramp is useable. I will post my results if I get down there. That way we will have at least ONE report. :)

Went Sunday and put in at MC as planned. Longlined 1/6oz minnow tipped jigs the entire length up and down the creek. Only caught 2 spotted bass. Then I moved to the Seneca creek access area and did the same. Caught 4 more spots and no crappie. Last place I went was the quarry area for just over an hour with same technique. Hooked one tiny crappie finally. Got checked by the GW about 1pm. He said Conaross was where the action was. Said boats all up and down that area and were catching them. I didn't want to take a boat ride that far that late in the day. Not sure if I was trolling incorrectly or if it just sucked in those areas. I had six roads out the back and was trolling with electric motor at about .5mph. Had approx. 40 yds of line out on each rod. Anyone else try Hartwell?

I tried Hartwell on Friday up six and twenty. Had about the same luck as you, caught 2 small crappie longlining and about 8 small striper. We were using jigs tipped with minnows about .7 mph.
