Finally made it out. Weather terrible
Normally I start crappie fishing late December early January and go two time a week then late February and early March I take a vacation date for 5 weeks in a row and I can fish three days a week. Anyway! All my days off until yesterday have been bad weather or other things preventing me from going (hand surgery etc.).
Normally I find the fish in Jan and can follow them around long lining for three months. Went out yesterday and went to my normal trolling areas and only caught a handful. Water temp was 58 which is at least 10 degrees warmer than normal this time of year. Went out again today and went to a place I normally don't go to until the end of March and caught a few. Normally I would never even consider going to that area of the lake.
Did see people catching some shooting docks just about everywhere I went. I'm off 3 days each week for the next five weeks guess I better take up dock shooting.
What's your guys opinion on what these warmer than normal weather conditions will do to the crappie. I'm fishing Logan Martin, how are other lakes doing. Are the crappie in their normal February locations. Looked at forecast and doesn't look like its cooling down anytime soon.
