Some Float & Flies for the spring crappie spawn.

https://scontent-ord1-1.xx.fbcdn.net...0d&oe=5904FC85I fish these guys under a very small weighted float from 2' to about 4' deep during the crappie spawn. They work very well over shallow brush and stake beds. They are very light and have a slow fall rate which I think triggers a lot of bites. They also catch bluegill and bass. Had one 3# largemouth last spring while fishing for crappie with them. They are tied on #8 and #10 Mustad 9671 Nymph hooks with brass bead heads, chenille bodies and fox hair tails.

They look good, should catch them!

They come painted pop. they are called Dazzle Beads and available from most fly tying shops.

Nice ties - but have never seen a float and fly with chenille on it.

Fatman I referred to them as float & flies because they are beadhead flies and i fish them under a weighted float for casting them. I also use them for crappie and in some cases bluegill fishing when the fish move up shallow for the spawn. I fish then under a fixed float and they have a fairly slow fall rate which i think is productive. I has fished float & flies for smallies in the past also. Those so called flies are really small jigs and are usually tied with hair and mallard flank feather. They are also fished much deeper like 8' to 12'.
