Equipment failures

I started to post this on Rooster's post about his TM problem but did not want to hijack his thread.
So I wanted to share a DF problem I encountered on my Lowrance and then saw it occur on Don's Garmin.
When I turned on the DF the screen was so dark I didn't think it was even on. I finally was able to get to the brightness adjustment and ran it up til the screen looked normal. I had done nothing to cause this, thought it was just a fluke.
Last week we ran into same problem with Don's Garmin. His was so dark we couldn't find anything so we fished without it. When he got home he was able to fix it just like I did.
Anyone else had this happen?
PS. Almost forgot, feel free to share similar equipment issues, not just DF, here so all can learn from your experience.

Ray the only times I had that problem was when my Lowrance died. At least I hope they died.

I lost the GPS on my HB 1198. Tried another antenna and still no GPS. Call HB and they said send unit in for repairs. Bought another unit for less than HB repair charge and tried both antennas and still no GPS. Not sure what to do.

I'd send a PM to Huminbird Greg on here. Think he is a factory rep for them. Couple other guys on here also pretty good at diagnosing problems.

My HDS 7 gen2 give up last week! The screen went black, had to sent it in under warranty, now I have another one on the way, I think it will be a re manufactured unit , with only a 6 month warranty, I hope it holds up better.

I think you are the one who put me on getting Lowrance to swap out my Elite 7 to the HDS touchscreen. Love my unit.

My Lowrance HDS7 and Humminbird 998C both lie a lot! What should I do about them.?:dono :popcorn:Rofl
Seriously! They act up once in a while. My Humminbird will black out and have to be restarted. Could be wiring problem not sure.
I maybe needing to change over to Helix 10 mega image just to up date. :popcorn

If any of you have an older 7" GPS and 2D sonar you want to sell give me a shout. I want to replace the 5" Helix that runs on my Ipilot TM transducer.

Never had a problem with mine till last week, it was under warranty, got another one on the way.
