I took my new boat to Greenwood today to get on the technology learning curve. Winds were at about 17 mph so I got pretty wet. The real bummer is that the trolling motor (Minn Kota Riptide Powerdrive 70 lb i-Pilot) died on the second deployment. Remote says "Motor Not Found." I've torn the innerweb up; consensus is it's a bad board. Time to find out about Minn Kota customer service I guess. Totally bummed. No lake for me for awhile.
Rooster carry your boat to the Crappie Hole in Chapin and let Marc Danque take a look at your trolling motor. He's a Minn Kota mastermind and he'll get you squared away. Call him before you go. I think his number is listed on Google. If not, message me and I'll get it to you.

Sorry to hear that exactly where do you live. There is a minn Kota service center in Chaplin at the crappie hole. It only takes Mark about 20 minutes to put a new board in. I am still planning on fishing Friday with you. Let me know if I can help you in any way.

Thank you very much gentlemen. I'm gonna contact my dealer first (2 hours away) then Mark (1 hour 20 minutes). I wanted to go to mark's anyway to check his shop out. I live in Greenville.
Mark is a great guy to deal with. Hard to get out of there without buying some jigs or poles or other must have items. He replaced one of my rod holders that broke, no charge, but I left with a bag full of jigs and a 10 Southern Crappie rod. :)
Kill the power to your trolling motor and let the remote and motor relearn each other and you will be good to go on must cases.
I know it had to be hard on Greenwood with the wind, not an easy lake once the water starts rolling

Sometimes a weak remote battery will be the problem, had it happen more than once
Stump has a good suggestion. These things are basically computers and a reboot may be all you need.
you also might want to check and make sure that your battery connections are good and tight !!! as you stated it was rough on Greenwood today and when I went to store today I told myself as rode across the bridge good thing I stayed home !!! loose battery connections can cause that problem !!! ask me how I know !!!!:biggrin

The new i-Pilot remotes use 3 AA batteries; mine are new and remote shows full charge.
