I don't think I would have been safe out there in my 10' jon with a trolling motor. Just sayin'.
I fished Friday and thought I was never going to get the boat tied off to the dock ( I was solo ).
Come to find out, I took a nasty dock wound to the side of my fiberglass boat.
There were 3 to 4 ft swells coming into the launch area. Lucky I got out of there like I did.

Been there and done that a few years ago myself also fishing solo, if I was guessing probably at the same ramp. No fun at all!!! Another friend got the bow of his boat temporarily trapped under the courtesy dock trying to tie off in a big wind like that. Doesn't take but one experience like that to make a fellow very careful about where he puts in at if the wind is going to blow any at all.Quote:

I was sure lucky to have someone at the kenlake ramp few years back. Had to come in with trolling motor with 25 -30 winds, first time I wished I had more than 70 lb thrust. Had two people to help guide me and slow me down. Came in pretty hot with wind at our back but got trolling motor up in time and just a good scuff on the nose.
Watch your hands! Easy to get a hand between the boat and the dock.
