Curious.....if we place a SI/DI puck in the same location as our old sonar's puck, will side imaging still be able to be used? The main engine does NOT have a trim position. It's either all the way up.....or all the way down. I don't see how the SI capability can be used in that situation? I may just be missing something, but I thought that nothing can be on either side of the transducer for it to work. Thanks for any input.
Obstruction to the side can definitely block the SI beam ...
HB offers an AS SILR Y cable that allows installing a port and starboard SI xducer for this scenario ...
You didn't say if you have HB or another brand ...

I don't know where your puck is currently located. SI transducers are usually mounted on the transom right at the waterline at the lowest point of the boat. SI will not work with a through hull setup without doing a port and starboard as previously mentioned.
Thanks for the responses. Apparently, the port/starboard dual transducer set up is the way to go!
I currently have a Helix 7 SI/GPS as the SI unit on my boat. I use the transom mount transducer that came with it and don't have any problems. You don't see a lot of the port and starboard setups on freshwater boats.Quote:

Look at the transom on your boat take notice as to where you would mount the transducer. Now look from the side of your boat to see how clear it is from side to side. SI is a very narrow beam so it does not take much room for it to pass between the engine lower unit and transom.
