Structure Scan HD on Ulterra?
Hey gang,
Got a question. I just bought a new (to me) boat. It has a HDS 8 with Structure Scan HD mounted at the front. Boat currently has a MK Fourtrex that SI transducer is mounted to. Previous owner said it worked well set up that way. I plan to buy a new Ulterra for the front of the boat. How well will the SI ducer work mounted on this unit? Any problems? How about running the transducer cable to foot of Ulterra? Are there any tricks to this?
Also has an HDS 8 (gen2) and LLS1 unit at dash. Transducer on the transom.
I had considered just going ahead and biting the bullet and getting an Ulterra with I-Link and buying a new Helix 10 for the front and dash, and getting all three networked. Wife has given me permission to do whatever I want to get the boat rigged the way I want it. But that is probably a one time deal.
If yall think the HDS 8 and Structure Scan is as good or better, then I will stick with what I have and figure out how to make it work....
So. What do ya'll think.

First off you can NOT network a Hummingbird to a Lowrance.
I network all 3 of my Lowrance units to the rear Structure Scan ducer. The problem with it on the TM is that you constantly change the left and right when you turn the TM. You can make or buy a transducer mount for the front that folds out of the way separately from the TM. I was going to do that on my boat, but decided to just waypoint the cover or structure and go back and fish it with my GPS, sonar, or a marker bouy.
