27 Jan 2017 - Fishing Report, very windy
Fished Town Creek, and it was cold and windy. Water temps were around 51F when we started just after daylight; we only found a few pods of crappie hanging around 16 FOW back up in the creek. And air temp was brrrrrrr with the wind whipping around 15-20 mph. Caught just a few until the sun got overhead. Once overhead we found fish moving up on the sandy flats on the side that was getting the most sunlight - 4 to 8 FOW. The hot ticket was to put a small bobber on the line, up about 3-4 feet above the jig and just slowly reel back to the boat. The wave action gave the bobber/jig all the motion it needed. We caught bream, stripe, LM bass (small), shad and one Warmouth along with crappie. All in all, we kept 10 crappie of medium size - no big ones and threw back all the smaller ones. Of the two females I filleted, both had eggs sacs but they were kinda small. Good day even though the wind beat us up all day.
